Police appeal for witnesses after a man dies in a collision near Caerwys
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man dies following a collision the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the B5112 in Caerwys, near to the junction 34 of the A55 at 12.46am on Saturday morning.
The collision involved a Vauxhall combo van and two pedestrians.
Emergency services attended the scene however sadly, one of the pedestrians, a local man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman, who is also local to the area, was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance with serious life changing injuries, she has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke.
The male driver of the van was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with what is believed to be minor injuries.
Sergeant Tony Gatley from North Wales Police’ Roads Policing Unit said:
“I am appealing for anybody who may have been travelling in the area at round the time of the collision, or to anybody who may have seen two people walking along the B5122 to come forward.
“Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit were called to the scene and the road was closed whilst the initial investigation took place.”
The road re-opened shortly before 8am.
Police enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number U112249.
