Over 200 apprentices, graduates and interns joined Tata Steel UK this week

Tata Steel UK has welcomed over 200 apprentices, graduates, and interns this week, marking a significant addition to its workforce of 8,000.
This move underscores the company’s commitment to fostering talent and driving innovation in the UK’s manufacturing sector.
Part of the globally renowned Tata Group, Tata Steel UK aims to achieve carbon net-zero by 2045.
The group’s presence in the UK is further strengthened by its association with iconic brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley Tea, and Taj Hotels.
With a rich legacy of recruiting top-tier talent, Tata Steel has strengthened its operations across various UK sites, including Shotton, Hartlepool, Corby, Wednesfield, Catnic, Trostre, Port Talbot, and Llanwern.
Chris Jaques, Chief HR Officer at Tata Steel, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is always one of the most exciting weeks of the year for us as we welcome another cohort of talented individuals to help us innovate, invest, develop, and collaborate in an industry foundational to UK manufacturing and community support.”
Highlighting the challenges and opportunities ahead, Chris added, “Our industry faces many challenges, especially in decarbonising steelmaking and contributing to a future green economy. Our new graduates, apprentices, and interns act as catalysts for proactive and positive change.”
Post their induction, the new recruits will be dispersed across various roles. Graduates and interns will find their place in operations, engineering, technical, R&D, and business functions, while apprentices will commence work-related skills training, either in-house or at local colleges.
Chris conveyed his optimism for the new inductees, saying, “This group will be stepping into the amazing world of steel. The industry demands innovation, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. These new starters will become part of our steel family, and the opportunities that lie ahead are extremely exciting.”
