Ambitious gap Connah’s Quay Nomads have made their first major signing ahead of the 2015/16 season, by tying down Interim manager, Allan Bickerstaff, on a three-year contract, with a brief to get the North Wales club into Europe.

Working alongside Jay Catton since January, Bickerstaff has led The Nomads from the threat of relegation to the Welsh Premier League’s Europa League play offs, where they were unluckily knocked out by Aberystwyth last Sunday.

Bickerstaff, a UEFA Pro Licence holder, has had major success already in Welsh football, winning the Welsh Premier League title with Rhyl in 2009 and taking them into the UEFA Champions’ League Qualifying rounds.

Renowned for their Academy, gap Connah’s Quay hope to celebrate a new 3G training complex, scheduled for September, with a strong push for their highest league position since the Welsh Premier League was established.

gap personnel group CEO, Gary Dewhurst commented,
“Having worked closely with Allan and Jay over the last four months, I’ve been impressed with their professionalism, focus and ambition.
They have a clear vision of where they want to take the Club and it’s my job to back them financially.
My son Matty plays for the Under 10’s, so who knows, in eight years he may be playing in Europe with The Nomads?!”
