Not to be outdone by the Premier League big boys, gap Connah’s Quay announced a couple of deadline day deals.
The Nomads have signed Wes Baynes from Northern Premier League side, Colwyn Bay paying a ‘four-figure fee’ for the Seagulls skipper.
Baynes, who was under contract with Seagulls, played 34 times for Colwyn Bay since a move from Telford last season, the sought after player had turned down an approach from Brackley Town in the summer.
In a statement the club said:
“Colwyn Bay Football Club last week were approached by GAP Connah’s Quay regarding the transfer of captain Wes Baynes. Like all players that have signed for the club, we have promised to not stand in their way if an offer was to come in for them.”

Wes Baynes said it had been a very tough decision.
“I’ve loved my time at the Bay, but feel the time is right for a new challenge, I hope Colwyn Bay fulfil their potential and climb the league again. I’d like to thank everybody involved at the club and who have supported the team during my time there – especially the board and chairman who made me feel at home as soon as I joined on loan from Telford.”
Baynes will wear the number 20 shirt at Deeside and will be available for Saturday’s home game in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League against Haverfordwest County.

The Nomads have also announced the signing of Wrexham duo, Corey Roper and Callum Terrell.
