Motorcyclist dies following collision on the A550 Welsh Road

A 30-year-old motor bike rider has sadly died following a collision in Childer Thornton, near Ellesmere Port.

Police were called at 1pm on Sunday to reports of a collision on the A550 Welsh Road.

The collision involved two vehicles, a white Volkswagen Golf and a blue Suzuki motorbike.

The rider of the motorbike, a 30-year-old man from Birkenhead, was taken to Arrow Park hospital with serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The man’s next of kin has been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist family liaison officers.

Investigation Officer Sergeant Paul Marsh said:

The A550, Welsh Road, is a busy road and as part of this investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who believes that they may have witnessed the collision.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 444 of 2/4/2017.
