Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis pockets £25m after selling part of his stake in Ewloe based Moneysupermarket.com

Self-proclaimed “Money Saving Expert” Martin Lewis has disposed of nine million shares in Ewloe based Moneysupermarket.com valued £25 million.

Lewis is the founder of consumer website Money Saving Expert, it was purchased by Moneysupermarket.com in 2012.

As part of the deal Lewis received cash and just over 22 million shares in Moneysupermarket.com, he donated 4.75m shares  to the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) they also sold the bulk of its stake today – 4.3 million shares worth £12 million.

Credit Suisse acted as sole broker for the placing.

Lewis has reduced  his stake in Moneysupermarket.com site from 3.1% to 1.5%. The remainder of his shares – just under 8.4 million – are subject to a further lock-up period of 180 days.
