A Local Supplier Engagement Event will be held at Redwither Tower, Wrexham Industrial Estate on January 14 and 15, where businesses will have the chance to meet the construction companies bidding to build the proposed prison on the town’s former Firestone site.

If given the green light by planners, work on the biggest prison in England and Wales will begin in the summer and it is expected to be operational by late 2017.

Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant is urging businesses in his constituency to attend the event, which will focus on the construction phase of the development, which will give the economy in north east Wales a much-needed boost and will help to restore confidence in industry.

He said:

“We need to ensure that local firms are given every chance to showcase their abilities and put our region on the map.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Alyn and Deeside to find out more about the possibilities this huge investment in our region could open up for them.

“A massive project like this will not only create 1,000 jobs – it will give the economy in north east Wales a much-needed boost and will help to restore confidence in industry.

Businesses who want to secure an appointment at the event should register HERE by Monday, January 6
