Free and low-cost digital shows to be put on by Theatr Clwyd throughout spring

A total of ten new free and low-cost digital shows have been announced by Theatr Clwyd for this upcoming spring.

Former ‘Eastenders’ and ‘New Tricks’ star Tamzin Outhwaite will do an online Q&A on 15 March for free as will ‘The West Wing’ actor Richard Schiff on 27 February for free.

Comedy will also feature, with solo shows from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ performer Daliso Chaponda on 20 March for £10 and Live At The Apollo headliner Brennan Reece on 27 March for £10.

The comedy club will be visited by Anglesey’s Kiri Pritchard-McLean and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ performer Allan Finnegan on 6 April for £5, with ‘John Bishop’s Only Joking’ star Dan Nightingale also featuring alongside a ‘secret guest headliner’ on 2 March for £5. 

Online play readings ‘The Secret Shows’ are back for their fifth and sixth instalments on 11 February and 11 March for free, with Welsh and UK actors bringing national plays to life.

UK storyteller Jan Blake will perform her show ‘The Zebu’ on 26 March for free, having done so previously worldwide and most recently at the Hay Festival. 

Lastly, Welsh poet, writer and performer Mererid Hopwood, who won the ‘Chair and Crown’ for poetry at the National Eisteddfod will perform some of her favourite pieces on 4 March for free.

Tamara Harvey, Theatr Clwyd’s Artistic Director, said: “We hope our newly announced online events will play a small part in supporting our communities and audiences through these difficult times.

“The wealth of Welsh, UK and international talent we’re showcasing makes me feel incredibly proud and excited for what the future holds, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to our hilltop in North Wales.”
