Flintshire youth groups win share of £60k crime fund

Three community projects in Flintshire have been awarded funding through the latest round of the ‘Your Community, Your Choice’ scheme, which saw £60,000 distributed across North Wales to support grassroots initiatives aimed at reducing crime and supporting community wellbeing.
The winning Flintshire projects are:
-
Broughton Youth Club – supporting youth arts and wellbeing programmes
-
Mold Amateur Boxing Club – delivering a mentorship scheme for young people through boxing
-
Positive Futures Mold – offering activities at a youth drop-in centre
The funding was announced at a presentation event held at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay on 28 March.
Projects were selected through a public vote, with support from the Office of the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, North Wales Police, and the Police and Community Trust (PACT).
Over the past 12 years, the initiative has awarded nearly £660,000 to over 200 local projects, with funding sourced in part from the Proceeds of Crime Act — using money seized by the courts — and matched by the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The three Flintshire groups join a wider list of recipients from across North Wales, each tackling issues such as youth engagement, crime prevention, recovery from addiction and safety education.
Andy Dunbobbin, North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I’m delighted to see such a diverse range of projects receiving funding this year. The public’s engagement in the voting process demonstrates how much these projects matter to local residents.”
PACT Chairman Ashley Rogers added: “The Your Community, Your Choice initiative continues to be a powerful way to support grassroots projects. I’m confident that each of these projects will create benefits for their communities and help build safer neighbourhoods.”
