Earlier report: Flintshire County Council has issued an urgent notice to parents and carers after a bus company said it was stopping school bus services

From Saturday, 9th September, Townlynx Bus Services will cease all operations, including school, college, and public transport services.

Townlynx decision will significantly impact a large number of students who rely on these buses for their daily commute to schools and colleges.

In a letter sent to parents via schools the council said:

“We need to inform you that the Council has been advised (at lunch time today) that Townlynx Bus Services will not be operating any transport services after today, Friday 8th September.”

“This means that no school transport buses, college transport buses and public transport services operated by Townlynx Bus Services will operate from tomorrow onwards.”

“Transport Services operated by other bus companies will continue to be provided as normal.”

“A significant number of pupils will be affected by this announcement and, unfortunately, despite our best efforts, there are insufficient resources amongst other transport operators to cover services at such short notice.”

Services that will be affected span a wide range of routes, including those connecting Sychdyn, New Brighton, Saltney Connah’s Quay, Flint, Greenfield, Holywell, Llanasa, Mynydd Isa, and many more.

Both eligible and fare-paying students will be impacted by this sudden change, necessitating them to find alternative means of transport to and from their educational institutions starting Monday, 11th September.

The council has acknowledged the significant disruption this will cause to both parents and students.

They have assured the public that they are making every effort to secure replacement services and will provide updates as the situation evolves.

“To reiterate, we have been advised that all Townlynx operated school, college and public transport services will not operate after today, 8th September.” The council said.
