Update:

Flintshire County Council issued an update at 4.45pm stating. ‘The Flintshire Bridge A548 has reopened’

Earlier report:
Flintshire Council has confirmed the A548 Flintshire Bridge will close from 6am on Saturday [4 October] due to forecast strong winds.

The closure will remain in place until it is safe to reopen.

The council said timings are subject to change depending on updates to the weather forecast.

A yellow Met Office warning for wind is currently in force across Flintshire and much of Wales.

The warning began at 3pm Friday and runs until 11.59pm on Saturday.

The Met Office says Storm Amy could bring gusts of 50 to 60mph across many areas, and up to 70mph in exposed parts.

The strongest winds are expected overnight into Saturday.

Forecasters warn some roads and bridges may close, power cuts are possible, and travel disruption is likely on road, rail, air and ferry services.

There is also a risk of flying debris, damage to buildings, and large waves along the coast.

People are advised to secure loose items around their homes, such as bins and garden furniture, and to take care if travelling.

The Met Office has warned that high-sided vehicles are particularly vulnerable to crosswinds on exposed routes.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve during Saturday afternoon.
