Plans for a former Flintshire pub to be converted into flats have been submitted to the council.

The Tavern, in Alltami, Mold, is currently vacant, but plans submitted by Deeside Architectural Design Ltd could see it be converted into four flats.

The planning statement with the application says that the ‘Tavern Inn’ has “current permission” for two flats, but this latest application is to increase the accommodation to four flats, meaning that they are applying for permission for two additional flats.

It also said that the building is currently in poor condition and will need a new roof and windows.

The plans include retaining internal finishes such as timber beams and floors. The chimney however would be removed according to the proposals.

The planning statement said: “The Tavern Inn, a building of local significance, will be sensitively converted. The design retains key architectural features, ensuring the building’s character is preserved. The proposed apartments will be designed to a high standard, offering comfortable living spaces that respect the building’s heritage.”

It added: “Special attention has been given to mitigating potential noise and disturbance. Soundproofing measures will be implemented to ensure a tranquil living environment for both the residents of the new apartments and the neighbouring community.”
