Driver heads to custody after Shotton foot patrol turns up three offences

A driver has been arrested in Shotton after a North Wales Police officer on foot patrol spotted them using a mobile phone.
Roadside checks found the driver had no insurance and failed a roadside drug test.
The driver was taken into custody and the vehicle was seized by a recovery operator.
The force’s North Flintshire neighbourhood policing team reported the incident in a social media post on Friday.
In the post, the team said: “An officer on foot today came across a driver using their phone, a couple of checks and they are off to custody. No insurance and a positive drug swipe.”
A roadside drug test indicates the possible presence of certain drugs. A confirmatory evidential sample taken at a police station is required before any prosecution.
Driving without insurance and using a hand-held mobile phone while driving are offences under the Road Traffic Act.
