Six people cut off by tide at Connah’s Quay during Flint 999 Day event

Flint Coastguard Rescue Team was called away from its own open day on Saturday, to reports of six people cut off by the tide at Dock Road, Connah’s Quay.
The team had been taking part in Flint 999 Day alongside North Wales Police, British Transport Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, an event organised by Flint Town Council.
They were tasked to the Dock Road report at 12:02pm.
Coastguard officers spoke to everyone involved and gave safety advice.
Some of those cut off had been fishing and had checked tide times beforehand.
RNLI Flint Lifeboat was also requested to assist but was stood down before launching.
The crew spoke to those involved and gave further safety advice.
Flint Coastguard Rescue Team thanked whoever made the first call to 999, saying they would rather be called and not needed than not called at all, or called too late.
Flint Lifeboat, writing separately on Facebook, described the callout as involving children cut off by the tide at Connah’s Quay, and said the call came in the middle of the 999 Day event.
The lifeboat station also said it raised £800 from the open day, and was holding its annual dog show the following day, with homemade cakes and hot dogs.
