an, 59, charged with attempted murder after Bretton stabbing

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was seriously injured in Bretton.
Emergency services were called to an address in Bretton at around 7.45pm on Monday, 6 July, after reports a woman had sustained stab wounds.
She was taken to hospital, where she remains.
Andrew Smith, of Bretton Lane, Bretton, was arrested in connection with the incident.
The 59 year old appeared at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, charged with attempted murder, threatening a person with a knife in a public place, possessing a knife in a public place, and assault by beating.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Mold Crown Court on 7 August.
Detective Inspector Daniel George said: “Offences of this nature are incredibly rare in North Wales, and I would reassure residents that this was an isolated incident.
“We are not looking to speak to anybody else in connection with the incident at this time.
“This is an active investigation, therefore it is important that people do not speculate about the incident online.”
