Airbus submits plan to ease congestion

Airbus UK has applied to widen the entrance to its staff car park in Broughton to reduce congestion.
During shift changes at the East Factory Car Park – which joins the main road between the Glynne Arms and Station Road Veterinary Surgery, traffic from the wing manufacturer puts daily pressure on the main A5104 route.
To ease this Airbus is proposing adding a third lane and filtering to the entrance of the car park, widening the junction towards the veterinary practice and creating a dedicated entrance lane.
The two existing lanes will be slightly widened and be split into left and right turn only exit lanes in an effort to improve traffic flow.
The proposals from commercial property managers CBRE include consulting on the relocation of a street lighting column and utility pole and adding ‘Keep Clear’ road markings on the public highway to further improve safety.
Flintshire County Council is scheduled to rule on the plans by Thursday, August 20.
