Saltney ‘hit and run’ – local man arrested

Police say a local man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run in Saltney this afternoon. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured, he was airlifted to hospital, police say his condition is described as critical. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

The collision happened on Park Avenue in Saltney just after 4.15pm, when a grey Ford Fiesta collided with the boy and failed to stop. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

The vehicle has been located and will be forensically examined. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

Park Avenue was closed for several hours while police carried out investigation work, it has since reopened. it has since reopened. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

Earlier a police spokesperson said: ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​

“Enquires are underway, and officers investigating are extremely keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have information regarding the incident. ‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌​
