Queensferry community group appeals for help finishing unfinished cabin after contractor disappeared

Ty Calon, a community facility on the Queensferry Campus, says a grant funded cabin project has been left unfinished after a contractor took payment and disappeared.
The group says it has reported the matter to police, sought legal advice, and contacted Trading Standards and Citizens Advice.
Ty Calon says the building still cannot be signed off, despite what it describes as countless conversations and requests for help.
Ty Calon said:
“What should have been an exciting milestone turned into a nightmare when the contractor took the money and disappeared, leaving us with an incomplete building.”
The group is now appealing for a qualified property or building surveyor to carry out an independent survey of the cabin.
Ty Calon said:
“Does anyone know a qualified property or building surveyor who might be willing to help us by carrying out an independent survey of the cabin?”
The group says it would welcome help on a voluntary basis, at a reduced rate, or simply a recommendation.
Ty Calon said:
“We’re determined not to let this project fail. Too many people believed in it, supported it and donated their time and money for us to give up now.”
