Chester: Cyclist dies in Hoole Bridge collision as Toyota driver flees scene

A cyclist has died after a collision on Hoole Bridge in Chester in the early hours of Thursday, and the driver of a silver Toyota Yaris fled the scene on foot.

Cheshire Police were called at around 3.50am on Thursday 21 May to reports of a collision on the bridge.

Officers found the collision involved a cyclist and a silver Toyota Yaris.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Toyota left the scene on foot shortly after the collision.

Enquiries are continuing and officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has dashcam or video footage of the area at the time.

Sergeant Russell Sime said:

“As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with any dashcam or video footage which aid the investigation.

“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who may have any footage of the silver Toyota prior to the collision, or footage of anyone leaving the area immediately after the incident.”
