Connah’s Quay High School (CQHS) are proud to have been awarded the Careers Wales Mark in recognition of its commitment to continuous quality improvement in careers and the world of work provision in the school.

Careers Wales Mark is a programme designed to equip young people with the skills they will need in order to manage their working life, whether they leave education at 16, 18 or 21 so that they have the most up-to-date knowledge and understanding of working practices to make effective career choices

Assistant Headteacher, Amanda Creevy, on receiving the award stated “I am delighted that as a school we have received this award in recognition of our work in preparing our young people for the world of work.

Over the past few months we have received support from the local community and I would like to give my personal thanks to alumni students who have contributed to our careers provision and to local companies such as Tata Steel who have also played a role”.

Mark Owen, Head of Services to Stakeholders at Careers Wales, said: “We’re so pleased to award Connah’s Quay High School with the Careers Wales Mark for their demonstrable commitment to the ongoing development of careers-based learning for their students.

“They’ve continued to develop this area of learning despite facing restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, through activities including virtual careers events and working with alumni to share their relatable experiences of the world of work with current students.”

Previous students of CQHS who would like to play a part in mentoring learners at the school are encouraged to contact the school office.
