Cadw confirms half-term events at north Wales castles within reach of Flintshire

Cadw has confirmed a programme of half-term events at six north Wales sites between Saturday 23 May and Sunday 31 May.
Plas Mawr will host an event called Wise Woman across the half-term period.
Further along the north Wales coast, Beaumaris Castle on Anglesey is running Men at Arms across the bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 23 May to Monday 25 May, between 10am and 5pm.
Beaumaris will host a programme described by Cadw as including a knight’s school, sword fighting, live combat displays, jester-led circus skills, storytelling and living history demonstrations.
Caernarfon Castle is running Castle Garrison and Red Dragon Archers on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, from 10am to 4pm, with medieval skills displays and archery.
Harlech Castle will host Plantagenets from Saturday 23 May to Monday 25 May, between 11am and 4pm, with horse displays, archery, dances and musicians.
Segontium Roman Fort, at Caernarfon, is running a Herbal Workshop.
Criccieth Castle will host Tunes and Tales with Mair Tomos Ifans.
Cadw is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service and manages more than 130 historic sites across Wales.
Kate Roberts, Chief Executive of Cadw, said:
“May half term is the perfect chance for families to get out and explore the incredible history on their doorstep in Wales.”
“This year’s programme has been designed to be hands-on, engaging and genuinely fun, giving visitors of all ages the chance to connect our nation’s past and spend quality time together outdoors.”
The Cadw sites in Flintshire, including Flint Castle, Ewloe Castle and Basingwerk Abbey at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, are not listed in the half-term events programme.
All three are free to visit year-round.
Cadw said children go free with any adult membership.
