A Flintshire football team has dismissed a first team player for making “revolting and repugnant” remarks on a dating site.

JD Cymru North league side Buckley Town FC took the action on Saturday after being made aware of the comments which were made on Friday night.

In a statement the club said: “Earlier today we were made aware of remarks made overnight by one of our first team players on a dating platform.”

“The player concerned has been dismissed and his registration with the club has been cancelled with immediate effect.”

“These remarks are abhorrent and go against everything we stand for as a club.”

“We are committed to expanding and supporting female football and as tight-knit group, we are shaken and disgusted by these revolting and repugnant remarks.”

“We would like to apologise to anyone who has been affected by this player’s remarks, which we, like any right-minded person, find totally and utterly unacceptable.”

The JD Cymru North issued a statement on Saturday, it said they were “aware of alleged comments made on a social networking platform involving a registered player in the League.”

“The League does not condone such behaviour and acknowledges the swift action taken by the player’s club in dealing with this matter.”

“The League has reported the alleged comments to the FAW Compliance Department in order to investigate this matter further.”
