Work has begun to convert the former Tim Hortons drive-thru at Broughton Shopping Park into North Wales’ first Slim Chickens restaurant.

Contractors have moved onto the site this week, with signage removed and fit-out works now taking place to transform the café building into the US-inspired chicken brand.

Slim Chickens is a fast-casual restaurant chain founded in Arkansas in 2003, known for its buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders, sandwiches, and wings. The brand has expanded rapidly across the UK in recent years.

In the UK, the Boparan Restaurant Group holds the master franchise rights to Slim Chickens. The company operates several major restaurant brands including Giraffe, Carluccio’s, and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

The new Broughton branch will mark the first Slim Chickens restaurant in North Wales, joining existing outlets in cities including Cheshire Oaks, Manchester, and Liverpool.

Tim Hortons, the Canadian coffee and doughnut chain, closed its Broughton outlet after less than two years of trading.

An opening date for Slim Chickens at Broughton has not yet been confirmed.
