A Shotton man branded a sexual predator has been jailed for 17 years today at Mold Crown Court.

Mervyn Jones, 53, of Rowden street, Shotton had denied 13 offences of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault against four children.

The offences dated back to the 1990’s but he was unanimously convicted by a jury at Mold Crown Court in December 2014.

Jones was convicted of six charges of rape, one charge of attempted rape and six charges of indecent assault.

All of his victims are now in their twenties, the offences dated back to the 1990’s

Judge Rhys Rowlands said

“You have no comprehension of the way in which you were meant to behave as a grown man towards young children, or the harm you have caused the victims.”
