Saturday: Severe delays on trains between Shotton and Bidston due to slippery rails

Saturday 16:00: Due to slippery rail conditions there is disruption to trains between Bidston and Shotton.

A combination of Autumnal leaf fall, wind and rain, rails have become slippery due to accumulated leaf mulch.

Trains are reported to be experiencing difficulties in accelerating and braking, special safety regulations are in force, leaving trains running at reduced speeds.

Buses are taking the place of trains where services have been cancelled, this is extending journey times by up to 45 minutes, the replacement buses are transporting passengers between Shotton and Bidston in both directions.
