Update: Fortunately, there were no reports of properties being flooded.

Local photographer Dale Miles captured the river at high tide.

Previous Report: A flood alert has been issued for the River Dee in Chester between Grosvenor Bridge to the Groves this afternoon.

The UK government flood information service has issued a warning just before 12pm saying ‘immediate action required.’

High tide is expected to be higher than usual at Chester Weir this afternoon and those near the river are being asked to take care.

River levels are expected to be lower than the flooding in January 2014, but some properties could be affected between 12:45 and 13:15 today.

The flood information service has said:

“We believe there is a possibility of flooding for riverside properties from Grosvenor Bridge to the Groves.

Peak levels will be lower than the flooding in January 2014.

Coastal conditions are expected to continue until after the high tides at 13:30 on 11/02/20 at Chester Weir.

We are closely monitoring the situation.

Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue (further) flood warnings if necessary.

Please be careful along coastal footpaths and roads.”
