Man killed by train at Capenhurst

Wirral line trains were suspended between Hooton and Chester and Hooton and Ellesmere Port this evening, 26th January after reports that a person had been struck by a train.

Emergency services were called at around 5:40pm to Capenhurst station where they found a male had been hit by a train, sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said:

“Officers attended Capenhurst after a report a man had been struck by a train.

“Officers from British Transport Police and Cheshire Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 5.44pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics from the local ambulance service also attended but the male was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
