Yellow warning for strong winds issued in Flintshire

A yellow weather warning has been issued for strong winds in Flintshire from this afternoon (Tuesday) through to tomorrow morning, with the Met Office warning of potential travel disruption and coastal hazards.
The warning, which begins at 3pm today and runs until 8pm on Wednesday, predicts gusts of 40-50 mph inland and up to 60 mph in exposed coastal areas.
The Met Office advises that the conditions may lead to delays on roads, rail, and bus services, as well as hazardous travel for high-sided vehicles on bridges and exposed routes.
Coastal areas are expected to face large waves and spray, potentially impacting sea fronts and nearby communities.
Residents are urged to take care if travelling near cliffs or along the shoreline.
The Met Office has issued the following advice for staying safe during strong winds:
- Check road conditions and public transport updates before travelling.
- Avoid exposed coastal routes and stay back from large waves.
- Keep dogs on leads when walking near cliffs.
- Be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions and updated warnings.
The warning is classified as yellow due to a medium likelihood of disruption but low impact overall.
The strong southerly winds are expected to ease in Northern Ireland overnight and gradually subside across Flintshire and the rest of Wales around dawn on Wednesday.
