Summer returns to Deeside after washout July and August

For the many in the UK still hoping for some sunshine before the summer ends, it seems their wishes will be fulfilled.
The Met Office has forecasted that an ‘Iberian plume’ will hit the country this weekend, potentially bringing temperatures up to 25°C in Flintshire.
Next week marks the first full week of meteorological autumn and coincides with the reopening of many schools.
The warmer weather comes as a pleasant surprise for many in the UK who have been experiencing a rather wet and chilly summer.
Locally, sunny weather and temperatures of 25°C are forecast to last throughout the forthcoming week.
The warmer weather is attributed to two key factors. Firstly, the jet stream, which has been causing largely unsettled spells of weather in the UK, is shifting northward.
This will allow higher pressure to build across the UK during the weekend and into next week. Secondly, the influence of former tropical cyclone Franklin moving into the north Atlantic is amplifying the build-up of high pressure.
Chris Bulmer, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, commented, “As high pressure becomes established from this weekend, fine and settled conditions will develop and along with this we will see a rise in temperature across most parts of the UK next week. Many places can expect to see maximum temperatures rise to 25°C or above for several days, which would bring some locations into the realm of heatwave conditions.”
He further explained, “Although the highest temperatures are likely to be in the south and east of England, these areas also have higher temperature thresholds for heatwave conditions to be declared. So, while some areas may just miss out on the actual definition, regardless of thresholds, many areas will enjoy a fine period of weather with plenty of sunshine and temperatures are likely to be the highest for many since June or early July.”
Most assessments suggest that this fine spell of weather will continue throughout the week. However, there is an increased chance of a breakdown in the settled conditions during the following weekend. The timing of this breakdown, however, remains uncertain.
