Pupils help clean up Ewloe as part of Mini Police scheme
Two large bin bags of rubbish, and a toaster, were pulled from a duck pond in Ewloe last week.
Year 5 pupils from Ysgol Penarlag found the rubbish while taking part in North Wales Police’s Mini Police scheme.
PCSO Kayleigh Chilton, from the force’s North Flintshire team, led the visit to the school.
The scheme gives primary school children the chance to learn about policing, community responsibility and teamwork.
Pupils spent the day litter picking around Ewloe, collecting several bin bags of rubbish in total.
North Wales Police said:
“Not only is fly-tipping and littering harmful to wildlife and the environment, but it also spoils these beautiful community spaces for everyone to enjoy.”
The force praised the Year 5 pupils for their effort and the example they set for the community.
North Wales Police said:
“Please remember to dispose of your waste responsibly. If a bin isn’t available, take your rubbish home with you.”
