Flintshire forecast to hit 30C as third heatwave of the year builds

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Flintshire is forecast to hit 30C this week, as the third heatwave of the year builds across the UK.

The latest forecast for Hawarden shows temperatures climbing from 24C on Monday to a peak of 30C on Friday, before easing back to 27C over the weekend.

Tuesday’s high in the county is forecast at 23C, followed by 27C on Wednesday and 28C on Thursday.

The Met Office said parts of the UK are entering heatwave conditions, with southern England forecast to see highs of 34C to 35C later in the week.

Scotland and Northern Ireland are forecast to stay cooler, with peak temperatures more likely in the high 20s Celsius.

Steven Keates, the Met Office’s Deputy Chief Forecaster, said: “Parts of the UK are entering heatwave conditions, the third heatwave in the UK so far this year.”

“However, unlike the May and June heatwaves, we are not expecting this heatwave to be record breaking.”

“Temperatures this week are not expected to reach the highs we witnessed last month, though parts of southern England in particular are likely to see several days in the low 30s Celsius, and a few places could reach 34 to 35C later this week.”

Mr Keates said some larger urban areas could see a tropical night this week, where the temperature does not fall below 20C overnight.

Pollen levels locally were rated high on Monday, and the Met Office said pollen would remain high or very high in some areas through the week.

The Met Office said UV levels would be high or very high across many parts of the UK, and advised people spending time outdoors to use sun protection.

The forecaster also advised people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day, and check on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

The Met Office said the warm spell is likely to last into the weekend, with increasing humidity and a growing chance of showers or isolated thunderstorms.
