The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Endoscopy team have been praised for their high-quality service following a recent review.

The Endoscopy department has received full JAG (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) accreditation for another consecutive year, following a review that explored all aspects of the service.

JAG accreditation, which was developed for Endoscopy service providers across the NHS and independent sector, provides independent and impartial recognition of high-quality service, and is regarded as one of the most innovative and effective schemes in the healthcare sector.

The service is reviewed continuously to see where further improvements can be made to the quality and effectiveness of the care it provides, through evidence submitted to the JAG, and regular assessment visits.

The prestigious accreditation is based on evidence relating to clinical quality, patient experience, workforce and training, and a demonstration of high levels of quality.

It means patients are able to feel confident in their Endoscopy service and be assured of receiving high quality consistent care.

Mark Jerrum, Unit Manager of COCH’s Endoscopy Unit said: “Within the world of endoscopy, to have JAG accreditation is the ‘Gold Standard’, and a recognition that you are amongst the best of the best in providing our service.

“We submit evidence annually to demonstrate we operate to the highest standards for endoscopy services required by JAG and that we maintain those standards consistently, so there is always a great sense of achievement when we maintain our accreditation.”

“The whole team are incredibly proud to receive this, it really is a huge team effort and we all support each other as much as we can,” he added.
