Flintshire recycling collections delays after heatwave disruption

Some recycling collections in Flintshire have been delayed after rounds were suspended during last week’s heatwave.
Flintshire County Council said crews are working to clear the backlog and restore normal collections as quickly as possible.
The council said the suspension was introduced to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of crews working in the conditions.
Some households are now presenting higher volumes of recycling, the council said, which has increased collection times.
This has caused some vehicles to reach capacity sooner than expected, according to the council.
Additional resources have been deployed where possible, the council said.
Some rounds have not been completed within the normal working day and may require return visits, the council said.
Last week, Flintshire County Council’s Streetscene Service Manager, Chris Goddard, praised crews for their work during the heatwave.
He said:”I want to pay tribute to our teams who, over the last few days, have shown real commitment in extremely challenging conditions.”
Goddard also thanked residents for supporting crews during the hot weather.
Streetscene teams started early during the heatwave in an attempt to minimise disruption to services, the council said at the time.
