Police “had to be a bit of a Grinch” asking driver to remove Christmas lights from car

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

A driver in Wrexham was left with ‘strong words of advice’ only, after being told to remove Christmas lights sellotaped to their car.

The police unit released the above picture of a traffic stop on First Avenue in Llay, saying they “had to be a bit of a Grinch”.

Officers said, “We all love a bit of the festivities here in the Roads Crime Unit. However we advise that you keep your Christmas tree lights on your Christmas tree and not on your car. This chap thought otherwise when we stopped him in Wrexham earlier today.

“We had to be a bit of a Grinch when we spoke with this driver kindly asking him to remove the few hours work he spent decorating his vehicle.

“It is not legal. It is not safe”

“It causes distractions to other road users, it could cause injury to other road users and worst of all they were stuck on with sellotape! Strong words of advice to this driver on this occasion.

“Enjoy the festive period but please keep the decorations on your tree next time.”
