NHS 111 Wales site hit by technical issues

The NHS 111 Wales website is currently unavailable due to technical difficulties.
In a statement shared on social media, NHS 111 Wales said: “We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the NHS 111 Wales website, which means the site is temporarily unavailable. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while our technical teams work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
People in need of urgent health advice are being asked to contact the service by phone. NHS 111 Wales added:
“If you require urgent health advice or support, please contact NHS 111 Wales by phone. For mental health support, press 2 after calling to speak directly with a dedicated advisor.”
The organisation reminded the public to practise self-care where appropriate and to use local pharmacies for advice on common illnesses and over-the-counter medicines.
The outage comes as many of the world’s biggest apps and online services, including Snapchat, Duolingo, Roblox and Slack, also experienced downtime on Monday afternoon.
The problems appear to be linked to Amazon Web Services (AWS), a major cloud provider used by millions of websites and applications.
AWS confirmed it had experienced widespread disruption but said services were beginning to recover.
A statement from the company said: “We are seeing significant signs of recovery. Most requests should now be succeeding. We continue to work through a backlog of queued requests. We will continue to provide additional information.”
It’s unclear whether the NHS 111 Wales website outage is directly connected to the AWS disruption.
