The data, from the FSA annual enforcement report for 2014/15, shows a massive 460 ‘outlets’ out of a possible 1318 food establishments in Flintshire received a written warning from health inspectors following a visit, many around poor hygiene standards and non-compliance with food safety laws.
The vast majority of warnings were dished out for relatively minor breaches of hygiene compliance laws, with inspectors offering food safety and legal compliance advice on the spot however, inspectors write to confirm the information provided and warn about future violations this is then chalked up as a warning and fed into the FSA data.
Clearly the warnings work as only one ‘Improvement Notice’ – a notification handed out for more serious cases, was issued.
The report shows that one business closed voluntarily due to its inability to maintain faltering hygiene standards, yet there were no prosecutions within the same period.
A whopping 37% of the 34,380 food establishments in Wales were issued with warning letters in 2014/15, thats 2% more than in Flintshire however versus an average across the whole of Britain – Wales it appears have a serious problem – out of the 623,732 food establishments in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland 29.5% received a warning letter, 11.4% lower than Wales![/text_output][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row no_margin=”true” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” bg_video=”” class=”” style=””][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][vc_line_chart x_values=”England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland” values=”%5B%7B%22title%22%3A%22England%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%2226.7%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22blue%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Scotland%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%2228.2%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22mulled-wine%22%2C%22custom_color%22%3A%22%2300c1cf%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Wales%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%2239.5%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22juicy-pink%22%2C%22custom_color%22%3A%22%235472d2%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22Northern%20Ireland%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%2229.5%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22green%22%2C%22custom_color%22%3A%22%23fe6c61%22%7D%5D” title=”Percentage of food outlets handed written warnings in 2014/15″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row no_margin=”true” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” bg_video=”” class=”” style=””][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/1″][text_output]Food hygiene ratings.
