Met Office yellow alert: Heavy rain warning for Flintshire throughout Monday

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

A yellow weather warning for heavy rain is in force for Flintshire until 8pm today, according to the Met Office.

The warning, which came into effect shortly after midnight, is expected to bring persistent and sometimes heavy rainfall throughout the day.

The Met Office has forecast that between 20-40mm of rain will fall widely across northeast Wales and northwest England, with some areas potentially seeing up to 60mm of rainfall.

The weather service has also warned of possible flooding, stating, “A spell of persistent and at times heavy rain is expected to affect northeast Wales and northwest England during Monday before easing on Monday night.”

Localised flooding may impact homes and businesses, and travel disruptions are likely.

Roads may become hazardous due to surface water, causing longer journey times, while bus and train services are also expected to be affected.

In particular, Merseyrail has implemented restrictions on services due to the adverse conditions.

Network Rail has confirmed that train services on the Chester and Ellesmere Port lines will start and terminate at Rock Ferry throughout Monday.

Rail replacement bus services will be operating between Rock Ferry, Chester, and Ellesmere Port to accommodate passengers.

A Network Rail spokesperson added, “We are continuing to monitor the weather forecast closely and will seek to restore normal services as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Those planning to travel are advised to check for updates on Merseyrail’s service information page or via their social media channels for the latest travel advice.
