Mold Carnival returns to Maes Bodlonfa Fields on Sunday 5 July with free entry

Mold Carnival returns to Maes Bodlonfa Fields on Sunday 5 July, with free entry and a programme running from 11am to 6pm.
The event, organised by Mold Town Council, takes place at the fields known locally as The Rec and Kendricks Field, off Chester Street, Mold, CH7 1DR.
A colourful Carnival Parade sets off from Griffiths Square Car Park at 10.30am and makes its way to the fields before the main programme begins.
The headline attraction this year is Prehistoric Zeus, a walking T-Rex dinosaur that organisers describe as the largest of its kind in Europe, standing 12 feet tall and 22 feet long.
A group of smaller baby dinosaurs will also be on site, giving visitors the chance to get up close to the prehistoric creatures.
More than 400 community performers are due to take to the main stage across the day, including Urban Fusion, Buckley Cheerleaders, Côr y Pentan, Rock Choir, Dance Maniax and Inversion Aerial Fitness Studio.
Among the named acts is Anomaly, a rock and pop band made up of four young musicians, Abe, Charlie, Will and Brody, aged 15 and 16.

Their set includes songs by The Who, The Beatles, Queen, Arctic Monkeys, McFly and Black Sabbath.
Also performing is Brody Duncan, who won the 2024 Time2Shine Competition, and Mali Sigsworth, a singer who has previously appeared at Live on the Square and the Sunday Gathering Artisan Market in Mold.
The BT Big Band will also play at the event. The group was formed in memory of Ben Thomas and includes his friends alongside members of the Royal Buckley Town Band.
Cambria Band leads the parade and plays throughout the day. The band is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will offer free musical workshops on the fields, giving visitors the chance to try an instrument.
DJ Cookie Partyman and Wilf return with their Big Blue Battle Bus and their Ripple Effect Challenge, which is free to join on the day.
Science workshops and character meet-and-greet sessions are also part of the programme, including appearances from characters based on Toy Story, Zootropolis and the Minions.
The It’s a Knockout competition is back, open to teams of 10 adults from local businesses, charities and community groups.
Teams must pre-register before the event as entries are not accepted on the day.
To register or for more information, contact Mold Town Council by email at [email protected] or by phone on 01352 758532, option 3.
The carnival also has places available for volunteers to help with set-up, stewarding and litter picking on the day.
Local businesses can support the event through sponsorship, with packages starting from £50.
