A man has died following a collision on Nercwys Road in Mold .

A man has died following a road traffic collision in Mold today Wednesday, 14th March.

Police received reports at 11:55am of a two-vehicle collision on Nercwys Road involving a moped and a Fiat 500 car.

Emergency services attended the scene including the Air Ambulance.

Sadly, the male rider of the moped was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remains closed at this time.

Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from the Roads Policing Unit said:

We are appealing for witnesses to the collision which occurred in The Tower Lodge area of Nercwys Road. The moped was travelling from the direction of Nercwys towards Mold and the Fiat was travelling in the opposite direction.

Anybody who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision are also asked to contact us immediately.

A Wales Ambulance spokesperson said;

We were called at approximately 11.50am this morning (Wednesday) to reports of a road traffic accident involving a motorcycle on Nercwys Road in Mold.

We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car, two emergency ambulances and two Wales Air Ambulances to the scene.

Any witnesses are urged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number V036280.

Motorists are being asked to avoid Nercwys Road in Mold due to a serious road traffic collision.

Police have said the road closed following a two-vehicle collision near Tower Hill in Nercwys between its junctions with Tower Cottage and Ffordd Pen Y Bryn.

Reports of “four or five” police cars and two ambulances at the scene of the crash.

A Wales Air Ambulance was spotted in the area at around 12.14pm, it was later seen taking off for its Welshpool base landing at 1.30pm.

A traffic report for the area says;

Nercwys Road both ways closed due to serious accident between Nercwys and Mold. Back road between Mold and Nercwys has been closed following an accident near the old cheese factory. Minor delays in the area. Road is likely to remain closed for some time.
