Man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following collision on A55 near Broughton

A man has been seriously injured following a collision on the A55 near Broughton just after midday today.
Police have said a van collided with a HGV tipper which was parked in a layby on the westbound carriageway between the junction for the Broughton Shopping Centre and the junction for the A5104.
The emergency services attended and the male driver of the van has been airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious, life-changing injuries.
Sergeant Jason Diamond of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The van was travelling from the direction of the posthouse heading into north Wales and I am appealing for anybody who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to the collision to contact us.
“We are also appealing for the drivers of two HGV’s which were parked in a layby on the opposite carriageway at the time and who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.”
The road is currently closed and is likely to remain closed for some time.
Anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or who may be able to assist with the investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat quoting incident number Z029998.
