Update M53 reopens – police continue with investigation work

UPDATE: :Latest is that southbound is back open – northbound still down to one lane and heavy traffic in the area.

One lane of the M53 northbound carriageway has been closed over night and during the morning as police continue investigation work linked to the Ellia Arathoon Ellsemere Port murder enquiry.

Southbound was closed for a time but appears to be back open.

Cheshire Police discovered human remains while searching for missing Ellia Arathoon, 29.

The discovery was made in an area close to the M56 in Ellesmere Port on Thursday.

She was last seen in the Cromwell Road and Shepherds Close areas of Ellesmere Port on Friday October 28.

Craig Proctor, 39, from Ellesmere Port, has been charged with murder and remanded in police custody.

He is set to appear before Chester Magistrates on today.

The remains are yet to be identified police have said they were linking them with the disappearance of Miss Arathoon.
