Hawarden: Pedestrian airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after collision with car
A 27-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car on Glynne Way in Hawarden last night.
Police closed the main road through Hawarden for several hours as emergency services dealt with the incident.
The collision happened just before the Crosstree Lane turning at around 6.40pm on Friday evening.
The Welsh Ambulance service sent a rapid response car and an ambulance to the scene, an air ambulance was called upon as the extent of the man’s injuries became clearer to paramedics.
A Wales Ambulance spokeswoman said:
“We sent a rapid response vehicle, emergency ambulance and air ambulance to Glynne Way in Hawarden after a road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian, a 27-year-old man was flown directly to the trauma centre at Stoke with multiple serious trauma injuries.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident and say the road will be closed for some time. @NWPControlroom tweeted: “18.40 RTC on Glynne Way, Hawarden – any witnesses please call 101 – quote S123132. Road will be closed 3 – 4 hours”
Twitter user @LiamEllis91 captured a video of the air ambulance landing close to his garden, he tweeted:
