This autumn, families across North East Wales are in for a treat. Groundwork North Wales, in partnership with charities Wild Ground and Refurbs, has announced a full programme of complimentary outdoor events tailored to families, inviting everyone to embrace the season in its full glory.

With a diverse range of activities planned, from fungi foraging in Brymbo to a mindful walk with yoga and breathing exercises at Minera Lead Mines, there’s bound to be an event to pique everyone’s interest. Families are encouraged to wrap up warm and venture outdoors to relish the fresh air and changing colours.

For those keen to explore various venues, the programme spans several captivating locations, including the Minera Lead Mines, King’s Mill, Brymbo Heritage Centre, Alyn Waters Country Park, Rhydymwyn nature reserve, and the newly added Wellbeing Hub in Wrexham.

A special highlight includes the Haunted Happenings event on 30th October at Minera Lead Mines, where attendees can embark on a ghostly walk led by spirits from history, engage in crafts, and then warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. This particular event does come with a £5 admission fee, standing as the exception in a primarily free event lineup.

As October concludes, families can partake in the #EatYourPumpkin Carving Workshop, which emphasises both fun and sustainability. This will be held at Alyn Waters Country Park and the Repair and Reuse Café in Buckley, Flintshire. Simultaneously, arts and crafts enthusiasts can enjoy sessions at the Wellbeing Hub in Wrexham and Caergwrle Boys Brigade Hall.

Wild Ground also beckons nature lovers to Rhydymwyn Valley Nature Reserve in Flintshire for a guided walk on 1st November. Here, attendees can immerse themselves in the myriad hues, sounds, and sights of autumn. The nature-inspired fun continues with activities like a witch-themed scavenger hunt and kite making in subsequent days.

To ensure the best experience, though the majority of the events are free, advance booking is vital due to limited spaces. Complete details and any event updates are readily accessible on the official websites and social media platforms of Groundwork North Wales, Minera Lead Mines, Refurbs Buckley, and Wild Ground.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to check out the event schedules online or reach out directly via email or phone for more information. With so much on offer, this season promises memorable experiences for families all across North East Wales.

All the activities on offer are free except for Haunted Happenings, but booking is essential, and spaces will be limited. Details of all the activities are on the events section of the websites www.groundworknorthwales.org.uk  www.wild-ground.org.uk  and  www.refurbs.org.uk . All event news is publicised and updated on social media for Groundwork North Wales, Minera Lead Mines, Refurbs Buckley and Wild Ground.
