Gladstone’s library has revealed ambitious plans to develop the Grade I listed building in Hawarden.

The library has launched the ‘Living Heritage’ fundraising programme in an effort to secure funding which will see remodelling and repairs to the historic library, creating a brand new forum space.

The new visitor experience will aim engage and inspire a broader range of audiences, especially younger people, school children and cultural tourists.’

The planned contemporary space will be ‘quite different’ to the existing Victorian library building yet complementary, enabling the library to better deliver a wider programme of debates, lectures and events.

The use of digital technology will feature in the new development as the library looks to reach out to younger people, school children and cultural tourists.

An impressive new exhibition area dedicated to William Gladstone’s values and ideas is also planned in the new development as well as a new visitor restaurant and café, workspaces, reception area, shop, car park and garden.

Full plan can been seen here .
