Flintshire County Council has once again shown their support to the White Ribbon Campaign for an end to violence against women.

Council members and officers have been wearing white ribbons to promote awareness of the campaign, which aims to eliminate all forms of violence against women.

Councillor Chris Bithell, Cabinet Member for Public Protection, said:

“The UN officially recognises 25 November as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The White Ribbon is a symbol of hope for a world where women and girls can live free from the fear of violence.

“Flintshire has fully supported this cause for many years. Talking to young people and explaining the issues is just one of the ways to spread message the. Wearing a white ribbon is another great way to show support.”

Councillor Bernie Attridge, Deputy Leader of Flintshire County Council, added:

“Flintshire County Council is wholly committed to the White Ribbon Campaign and it is important that, as an organisation, we help to raise awareness by demonstrating our commitment and support around 25 November each year.”

The campaign White Ribbon Campaign invites people to pledge their support.
