Update: A person has died following reports of a casualty on the railway tracks near Connah’s Quay, British Transport Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks shortly after 9 am today.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene, but the individual was tragically pronounced deceased.

In a statement, British Transport Police said:

“Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 9am today (21 November) near Connahs Quay.”

“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.”

“The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Earlier report: Train services are facing significant delays this morning due to an emergency incident between Llandudno Junction and Chester, which has blocked all rail lines.

A reader reported a train at a standstill opposite the Esso petrol station in Connah’s Quay, describing “lots of police and ambulance” activity on the main road nearby.

Transport for Wales has said:

“The emergency services are dealing with this incident between Llandudno Jn and Chester.”

“We’re unable to run trains through the area in either direction.”

“Disruption is expected until 16:00.”

“We have organised buses to run between Llandudno Junction and Chester to assist customers to complete journeys where possible.”

Passengers are encouraged to check Transport for Wales updates before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
