Driver chased by police through Deeside at speeds of 130mph jailed

A man who was involved in a high-speed pursuit which reached speeds of up to 130mph through Deeside has been jailed at Mold Crown Court.

Dominic McMahon age 22 from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, was jailed for eight months by Judge Niclas Parry after admitting dangerous driving, failing to provide a breath test and possessing cocaine

The court was told McMahon reached speeds of 130mph in an effort to get away from police in May.

Judge Niclas Parry said: “The danger was as obvious as it was enormous to the public.” McMahon had not only put the life of his female passenger at risk but other road users were put in danger, said Judge Parry.

At one point McMahon pulled up for police officers, as they approached he sped off again, opposite Shotton railway station he drove at speed the wrong way along a one-way street before eventually being stopped.

He was banned from driving for two years and ordered to take an extended re-test.
