A man was arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of drink-driving after coming off the road and smashing into telephone pole.

The crash happened on the A451 Mold Road Hendre just before 11pm.

Police closed the road just between Lloyds Terrace and Mill Terrace asking driving to find alternative routes following the crash.

The silver Vauxhall Vivaro appears to have come off the road just after a bend along the A451 destroying a telephone pole, flowerbeds and fencing on the driveway of a nearby house.

The driver wasn’t injured in the crash police say but added his van was a right off.

Police said on twitter the driver of the van blew 85mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – over twice the legal limit of 35mcg.

The man was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
