Deestriders Shine at Wirral and Trailffest Races

Deestriders runners had a packed week, participating in a range of events with some stellar performances across various distances and terrains.

Wirral MT Race at Arrowe Park
On Tuesday, 24th September, several Striders took part in the Wirral Multi-Terrain Race at Arrowe Park. Leading the team, Christine Cammillare finished in 33:27, followed by Fred Aird with a time of 36:08.

Other notable finishers included Paul Lewtey (36:40), Stuart Brown (36:49), and Ally Morrison (40:49). The Striders continued to deliver strong times, with Amanda Scotter (41:32), Ann-Marie Fauset (42:50), and Claire Harper (43:08) closely following.

Dean and Bernice Matthews completed the course in 48:44 and 48:43 respectively, while Fiona Robinson rounded out the group in 51:35.

Trailffest Half Marathon
On Saturday, Paul Lewtey and Christine Cammillare tackled the challenging Trailffest Half Marathon, a scenic race that follows a steam train route and involves a staggering 2,000 feet of elevation.

Christine finished as the third fastest woman with an impressive time of 2:05:54, and Paul followed closely behind, crossing the line in 2:13:06.

Knutsford 10k
Sunday saw Rhian Lloyd represent the Striders at the Knutsford 10k, where she delivered a strong performance, completing the race in a time of 55:24.

Borders League Race 1
The week concluded with Deeside Striders competing in the first race of the Borders League. Max Dowell led the men’s team with an excellent time of 29:31, followed by Ryan Johnson-Wilcox in 31:58 and Tony Woodall with 32:34.

Chris Preston, Paul Lewtey, and Stuart Brown all finished under the 40-minute mark, with Dean Matthews completing the course in 47:02.

On the women’s side, Christine Cammillare impressed again with a time of 36:18, followed by Jay Jennions (38:08) and Steph Salusbury (38:48). Hannah Price, Sue Williams, and Amanda Scoots also delivered solid times, while Fiona Robinson completed her second race of the week in 55:55.
