Sealand-based engineering consultants Betts Associates are taking part in the Welsh Government led multi-sector mission to explore and maximise business opportunities in the region and will fly out to the Arabic state on Saturday.

Betts Associates offer specialist consultancy services in structural, geo and civil engineering, spanning key commercial, industrial, residential and public authority sectors.

Qatar has one of the highest rates of GDP per capita in the world which is expected to grow by 5.2% this year. A key energy supplier to the world’s major economies, oil and gas are the major driving forces for its rapidly expanding economy which is funding their programmes of economic diversification.

Qatar is to invest tens of billions of pounds to develop its infrastructure over the next ten years offering a wide range of potential opportunities for companies working in construction and allied fields.

Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant said: “It’s great that a Deeside business is among those taking part in the trade mission.

Qatar is a key market for Wales and I hope this trip will help strengthen trade links between the two countries, as well as open up more opportunities for local businesses.”
